About Timothy Wiemken

Dr. Wiemken has been a member of the Division of Infectious Diseases since 2008. He is a founding member of the Clinical and Translational Research Support Center within the Division and works closely with many infection prevention and hospital epidemiology departments throughout the country. Dr. Wiemken's research interests include developing new ways to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases through the application of both qualitative and quantitative methods. He is working on multiple research projects involving pneumonia, tuberculosis, healthcare-associated infections, disease surveillance, HIV, social networks, infectious diseases dynamics and modeling, and medical education. He has worked as a microbiologist at Abbott Laboratories, as an evaluation specialist at the Saint Louis University, and as an infection preventionist at the University of Louisville Hospital.
