Dr. Wiemken has been a member of the Division of Infectious Diseases since 2008. He is a founding member of the Clinical and Translational Research Support Center within the Division and works closely with many infection prevention and hospital epidemiology departments throughout the country. Dr. Wiemkens research interests include developing new ways to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases through the application of both qualitative and quantitative methods. He is working on multiple funded and unfunded projects involving pneumonia, tuberculosis, healthcare-associated infections, disease surveillance, HIV, and medical education. He has worked as a microbiologist at Abbott Laboratories, as an evaluation specialist at the Saint Louis University, and as an infection preventionist at the University of Louisville Hospital. Dr. Wiemken is currently the editor of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control Textbook on Infection Control and Epidemiology.
